Veg Salna, is a vegetarian kuruma given in most of the street side food shops in Salem. It is very good side dish for Parrota, Chappati, Idly, Dosa.. It tastes very similar to non veg kuruma.
Ingredients
To grind
Coconut – 8 tbs
Roasted gram – 8 tbs
Red chilli – 6
Kasa Kasa – 1/4 tsp
Fennel seeds – 1/2 tsp
Grind all together to a course paste.
Onion – 1
Tomato – 1
Mint – few
Ginger garlic paste – 1/2 tsp
Cinnamon, Cloves powder – 1/4 tsp ( or use hole Cinnamon – 1, Cloves – 2)
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Salem curry Masala powder – 2 tsp

Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Fennel seeds, Salt, oil.
Steps
In oil add one by one
Fennel seeds
Cinnamon Cloves powder
Onion, mint
Turmeric
Tomato
Ginger garlic paste
Curry Masala powder
Coriander powder
Add little water, add chill powder, salt
Add a glass of water, boil for few minutes.
Add grinded masala, add 4,5 glass of water, cook in high flame for 10 minutes.
If you want add more water. Because of adding roasted gram gravy gets thicker. Keep it little watery consistency when you finish, it will become thick after 15 minutes.
Serve along with parrato / roti / Dosa..
