Let us see how to make Pidi Karunai Kilangu Masiyal. It is very rich in fiber and treats piles. This will be a nice side dish for curd rice.
Pidi karunai kilangu – 250 gm
Tamarind – amla size
Small onion – 10
Ginger – 1 inch
Green chilli – 1
Red chilli – 1
Salt, oil , hing , mustard seeds, Ulund dhal, gram dhal, turmeric powder, curry and Coriander leaves.
Select old kilangu. The skin will be thick in older. You can buy and keep it outside for 2,3 weeks and then cook, so it becomes old, so we don’t feel itching in mouth while eating.
Cook in cooker for 2 whistles. Peel the skin, mash. Take pulp from tamarind, add kilangu to that.
In oil fry mustard seeds, dhals, hing, add chillies, chopped ginger, onion curry leaves and fry for 2 minutes. Add turmeric powder, add kilangu, salt and cook it for 3,4 minutes. Add Coriander leaves., switch off, If you want you can add little lemon juice
