Beetroot Masal Vadai
Soaked bengal gram dhal is grinder along with masalas and added some fresh beetroot, mint, onion. Deep fried Crispy in oil.
Masal vadai is made by dhal,. By adding fresh beetroot to it gives nice taste and beautiful color.
Bengal gram dhal – 100 gm (1/2 cup)
Beetroot – 150 gm (1 small)
Garlic – 2 cloves
Ginger – 1 “inch
Red chillies – 5
Fennel seeds – 1/2 tsp
Cinnamon – 1
Cloves – 2
Mint – 3 tbs
Onion – 1/2
Wash and soak dhal for 2 hours. Stain the water. Peel and grade the beetroot. Grind the beetroot coursly without adding any water. Keep aside.
In the same jar add masalas and 3 tbs dhal, 1 tbs water and grind. Now add dhal ( keep 2 tbs dhal aside). Add salt, hing and grind coursly without adding water.
Take out, add chopped Onion, mint and mix. Squeeze water from beetroot and add it to the dhal and mix.
Make vadai as shown and deep fry in oil. You can also do small pakkodas as shown.
