Peanut Sundal recipe
Peanut Sundal recipe. This can be prepared for pooja in Navarathri days. Also suited for poriyal & tea-time snack.
Ingredients :
Raw peanut- 200g; oil;salt;mustard seeds; curry , coriander leaves; coconut; asafoetida;
To Powder:
Channa Dhal -1 tsp : coriander seeds -1 tsp : red chillies -4 : jeera _1/2 tsp
Dry roast and make it to a fine powder.
Steps :
Soak peanut for 6 hours. Cook for 3 whistles. Add salt & cook in open lid for 2 minutes. In 1 spoon oil, fry mustard seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves. Add peanuts, powder & cook in slow flame for 2 mins. Add coconut, coriander leaves.
Kalkandu Pal Pongal recipe
Kalkandu Pal Pongal recipe made using Kalkandu (Rock Candy). Using kalkandu and milk gives a creamy sweet pongal. This is a prasadham commonly used for pooja.
Ingredients:
Raw rice – 1 small cup : kalkandu – 1 1/2 cup: milk -2 cup : ghee-3 tsp: cardamon powder- 1/4 spoon: cashew nuts : dry grapes
Steps:
Wash and soak rice for 30 minutes. Boil 3 cups of water and 1 cup of milk, add rice, cook for 3 whistles. Put kalkandu in 1 cup of water and boil it to melt. Mash the cooked rice well, add kalkandu water, 1 cup of milk, and cook in slow flame for 3 minutes. In a spoon of ghee fry cashew nuts, dry grapes, add this to pongal. Add cardamon powder and 2 spoons of ghee.

You can make quick recipes using Rice Flakes. No need to cook, just soak and do Uppma, sweets, Gheer, etc.. Aval Sundal Recipe is suitable for breakfast, dinner, Snacks and also for lunch. You can do this as prasadam for Navarathri.
Ingredients:
Thick Rice flakes -1 cup, Channa -1/4 cup, Onion -1/2, green chillies -4, oil, salt, mustard seeds, gram, ulund Dhal, asafoetida, turmeric powder, Lemon juice -1 tsp, curry, coriander leaves.
Steps
Soak Channa for 8 hours and cook for 2 whistles. Wash and soak the Rice flakes for 30 minutes. Add salt for Channa and Soaked Rice flakes. In 3 spoons of oil Fry mustard seeds, dhals, onion, chilly powder, turmeric powder, asafoetida, curry leaves. Add Channa and rice flakes without water. Mix well and add coriander leaves. Switch off and add Lemon juice. Aval Sundal is ready.

Buy long red chilies without the stalk part. Dry roast in batches for 1 minute. Put in sunlight for 4-5 hours. IT should break with a crisp crack , after keeping in sunlight. Give it in grinding mills & make it as a fine powder. Don’t close immediately, let the heat out by putting the powder in a wide bowl till it drops down to room temperature. Store it in a dry container & handle dryly.

Do not cover, it will be hot, put in wide bowl and keep for 1 hour until it get into room temperature. Store in dry container ,handle without moisture.
