Poriyal made with combination of drumstick leaves & karamani ( thatapair ).Tastes good and also rich in vitamins, calcium, iron & protein.
thataipair – 100 gms, drumstick leaves- a buntch ( 2 large cups ), onion-1, red chilly- 3, coconut- 1 table spoon,oil, salt, mustard seeds, jeera; jaggery- 1/2 spoon.
Soak thattaipayir for 8 hours. Cook for 1 whistle. Mix with some salt & keep aside. Clean the drumstick leaves ( Refer : How to clean Drumstick Leaves https://youtu.be/FTWe45cT3nM ). In 2 spoons of oil, fry mustard seeds, jeera; add onion, red chillies & fry. Add drumstick leaves, little salt, 1/4th cup of water. Cook for 1 whistle. Open , add cooked thataipayir, 1/2 spoon jaggery & cook for a minute. After the water drains completely, add grated coconut.
Spicy potato pepper fry. Easy to make & very tasty with all variety of lunch items.
Potato- 1/2/ kg; oil; salt; curry leaves; ginger garlic paste – 1 tea spoon; turmeric powder; chilly powder- 1/2 tea spoon; coriander powder- 1 spoon; curry masala-1 spoon; pepper powder- 1 spoon.
Cook potato for 1 whistle. Remove the skin & make it into cubes. Mix it with salt. In 3 spoons oil , fry all the powders, curry leaves & ginger garlic paste. Add potatoes, mix well. Simmer for 2 mins, turn it over & again in simmer for 2 mins, until it gets roasted evenly.
A spicy soya masala dish , taken as a side dish for rice & rolled in chappathi.
soya- 100 g; onion-1; tomato-1;
ginger garlic paste-1/2 spoon; oil;salt;turmeric powder-1/4 spoon; coriander powder-1 spoon; chilly powder- 1 1/2 spoon; garam masala-1/4 spoon; curry, mint & coriander leaves.
Wash & soak soya in hot water for 20 minutes. Take out & squeeze the water. In 3 spoons of oil, fry onion for 2 mins. Add tomato,ginger garlic past & fry for 2 mins. Add all the powders & salt.Mix well.Add curry & mint leaves.Add soya. Fry for 4 minutes in medium flame. Add coriander leaves.
