Goat leg normally used for making soup and Paya recipes. But here we can see a special traditional Village Style Attukal Kathirikai Kootu Kulambu.. Goat legs cooked along with Brinjal and tamarind.. It will be very nice for rice, Idly and dosa.
Ingredients
Goat leg – 500 gm
Big onion – 1/2
Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbs
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
Red chilly powder – 2 tsp
Coriander powder – 4 tsp
Brinjal – 1/4 kg
Small onions – 15
Tomato – 2
Tamarind – lemon size ( take out the pulp)
To grind
Coconut – 8 tbs, pepper – 1 tsp , jeera – 1 tsp, fennel seeds – 1 tsp, Cinnamon – 1, cloves – 4.
Grind all to a smooth paste by adding little water.
Oil, salt, mustard seeds, ulund dhal, curry and Coriander leaves.
Steps
Clean goat legs as shown. In a cooker add a tsp of oil, fry goat legs along ginger garlic paste and big onion.
Add turmeric powder, 1 tsp chilly powder, 1 tsp salt and mix well, add 1 liter water and allow it to boil. Close and cook for 25 whistles. Open after 30 minutes, when the pressure downs.
In 1 tsp of oil fry mustard seeds, ulund dhal, add small onions and fry for 2 minutes. Add tomatoes and fry, add chopped Brinjal, 1 tsp chilly powder, Coriander powder, salt and mix.
Add tamarind pulp and allow it to one boil. Add all this in the cooker and add coconut paste and water according to the consistency.
Add little curry and Coriander leaves and cook for 1 whistle.
Open and add some more curry and Coriander leaves.
The Yummy Attukal Kathirikai Kootu Kulambu is ready. Serve along with hot rice, Idly, dosa.
