Karamani also known as Thattapayer is a healthy dhal variety.Rasam made by using cooked karamani water is village recipe.
Ingredients
Karamani -1/2 cup: tomato-1: tamarind-amla size:salt: garlic cloves-5, rasam powder -1tsp:curry, coriander leaves: oil: assfotida:mustard seeds:onion vadakam
Steps
Soak karamani over night.Cook along a glass of water for a whistle.Take out cooked water and put a tomato in it,when it is hot.You can use cooked karamani to make sundal or gravy.Take out pulp from tamarind.Grind 1 tbs of karamani,tomato,curry,coriander leaves to a paste.Add this paste to tamarind pulp,add salt and allow it to boil for 3 minutes.Add this to karamani cooked water. In 1/2 tsp of oil fry mustard seeds,assafotida, onion vadakam,rasam powder,crushed garlic, curry leavs,add rasam and little water.Mix well ,once it starts boiling,add coriander leaves.
