Rava Kichadi is a quick recipe suitable for breakfast, tiffen, dinner and also to pack in lunch box. Similar to Rava Uppma, but here we add tomato, vegetables, turmeric Powder and lemon juice. So it has a little tangy taste and a colorful look.
Rava – 1 glass (200 Gm)
Onion – 1
Tomato – 1
Green chilly – 4
Ginger – 1 ‘inch
Carrot – 1 small
Beans – 5
Oil,ghee, salt, mustard seeds, ulund dhal, gram dhal, cashews, curry and coriander leaves, lemon juice.
Dry roast rava for 3,4 minutes until it gets roasted. Keep aside. In 5 tsp of oil fry mustard seeds, ulund, gram dhals, cashews.
Add chopped onion, chilly and ginger and fry for 2 minutes. Add chopped tomato and fry for a minute.
Add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, vegetables, little salt and mix, add 1/4 cup water, close and cook for 2 minutes.
Add 3 glass of water, curry leaves and salt. Once it boils, add rava slowly by gradually mixing it. Keep in medium flame, close and cook for 5 minutes.
Check in between and add more water if needed.( here I used the same glass for measuring rava and water, first I used 3 glass of water and in addition I added 1/2 glass more. This defers according to the rava)
Add ghee, Coriander leaves and switch off. Add 1/2 tsp lemon juice.
Now hot and soft Veg Rava Kichadi is ready. This can be eaten with sugar, coconut or tomato chutney.
