Mutton will be a right choice for Sunday recipes. Here in Salem, this watery Mutton gravy and fry done by the mutton taken out from the gravy along with hot idly, dosa, egg dosa is a regular Sunday morning breakfast.
Mutton – 1 kg, along bone and liver.
Small onions – 25
Tomato – 1
Ginger garlic paste – 2 tsp
Coconut – 8 tbs
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Pepper powder – 1 tsp
Mutton kulambu powder – 8 to 10 tsp.
Refer for Mutton kulambu powder
If you don’t have this powder use 6 tsp Coriander powder, 3 tsp chilly powder.
Oil, salt, curry and Coriander leaves
Crush the onions roughly, without water. In 5 tsp of oil fry the crushed onion for 2 minutes. Add ginger garlic paste and mix, add tomato and fry for a minute.
Add Mutton and mix well. Cook open for 2,3 minutes, until it changes the color. Add turmeric and Mutton kulambu powder. Mix well.
Add salt, 2 glass of boiling water and cook for 8 to 10 whistles.
Grind the coconut along little water to a smooth paste. ( if you use Coriander and chilly powder, add pepper, fennel seeds, jeera, Cinnamon, cloves.. Each 1/2 tsp along with coconut for grinding)
Take out the cooked Mutton from the gravy, for fry. Leave 7,8 pieces in gravy. Add coconut paste and add curry leaves, pepper and allow it to boil for 5 minutes.
Add Coriander leaves and switch off.
For making fry
Mutton from the gravy, salt, pepper, oil, green chilly, red chilly, curry and Coriander leaves.
In 5 tsp of oil fry slited chillies,curry leaves, pepper, add Mutton, little salt and fry. Add 1 small cup of Mutton gravy and cook for 4,5 minutes in low flame. Add Coriander leaves.
Now both yummy watery Salem Mutton gravy and fry is ready. Enjoy this with hot idly, dosa, egg dosa. This will be also nice along briyani.
