Yam tamarind curry.. Tamil we say it Masiyal.. That is mashed curry..
This is suitable for plain rice, curd rice, and also for dosa idly.. You can store this in fridge for 4-5days
Yam – 250 Gm
Small onions – 8
Garlic cloves – 5
Tomato – 1
Tamarind – Amla size ( take out the pulp)
Kulambu powder – 2 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Oil, mustard seeds, ulund dhal, onion vadakam, asfotida, red, chilly, curry leaves.
Select Yam with a thick skin. Peel of the skin and cut into big pieces.
Put in pressure cooker and add water and a piece of tamarind. Cook for 2,3 whistles.
Mash coursly the cooked Yam.
In 2 tsp of oil fry onions and garlic, add tomato and mix, add all Powders, and tamarind pulp, salt. Once it boils add mashed Yam and cook for 4,5 minutes.
In 2 tsp of oil fry mustard seeds, ulund dhal, asfotida, onion vadakam, curry leaves and add this to the curry.
