Ingredients and steps
Rice – 200 gm ( 1 cup)
Thour Dhal – 100 gm (1/2 cup)
Kothavarangai – 1/2 kg
Tamarind – amla size
Small onion – 8
Tomato – 3
Big onion – 1
Garlic – 4 cloves
Crushed garlic – 4
Green chilli – 2
Salt,oil, sambar podi, turmeric powder, rasam powder, hing,..
Soak rice, dhal, tamarind. Cut vegetables, onions. In a cooker add kotavarangai, little water, salt and cook for 1 whistle.
In little oil fry mustard seeds, dhals, add chopped big onion and fry for 2 minutes.
Add 1,1/2 tsp kulambu podi, little turmeric, hing, add cooked
Vegetable and cook for 3 minutes. Add little jaggery, curry, Coriander leaves, coconut, mix well. Poriyal is ready.
Cook soaked dhal along water, turmeric powder for 3 whistles.
In oil fry little pepper, jeera, hing, small onion, garlic, green chilli. Add cooked dhal cook for 3 minutes. Add curry, Coriander leaves, salt. Blend dhal using a blender or can use mixi.
In hot dhal cooked water add tomatoes. Take pulp from tamarind, add tomatoes to the pulp and mash, add salt and boil the tamarind, tomato water.
In little ghee fry mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves, crushed garlic, rasam powder, add tamarind tomato water, dhal cooked water. Mix well, if it begins to boil add Coriander leaves and switch off.
Cook rice in a pot or cooker.
