Kalli is a traditional recipe made for Thiruvathirai Pooja. Here is a another method of soft Kalli, tastes like Rice Halwa.
Raw rice – 1 cup
Sugar – 1 to 1,1/2 cup
Water – 2,1/2 cup
Use the same cup for measuring.
Ghee – 5 tbs
Cardamom powder, cashews, dry grapes.
Wash and soak rice for 30 minutes. Grind it to a smooth paste by adding very little water. It should be like idly batter.
Boil 2 cups of water, keep aside. Add the grinded batter to the warm water. Rince the mixi jar with 1/2 cup of water and add it. Mix well without lumps.
In a cooker heat 1 glass of water. Place the mixed batter inside the cooker and cook for 5,6 whistles.
Once the steam is gone, open and take out the bowl. Mix it fast for 2 minutes, until it mix well and there is no lumps.
Put it in a Kadai and cook for a minute. Add sugar and cook again cook for 3,4 minutes. Add 2 tsp of ghee and cook for 1 minute, add 2 tsp of ghee and switch off.
Add cardamom powder. In 1 tsp of ghee fry cashews and dry grapes and add it to the Kalli. Add a tsp of ghee on the top.
