Banana Stem is a healthy vegetable, but children refuse to eat it. By adding cow peas to it we can make a tasty Poriyal and make kids to like this.
Cow peas (Karamani) – 1/2 cup. 50 gm
Vallai thandu – 1
Onion – 1
Green chilly – 3
Coconut – 1 tbs
Oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves.
Soak cow peas over night and cook in cooker for 2 whistles. You can take the cooked water for making rasam.

Mix salt with cooked cow peas. Cut banana stem and put it in water to avoid color changes.

In 2 tsp of oil, fry mustard seeds, add onion, green chilly, curry leaves and fry for 2 minutes.
Add banana stem without water, add salt and 1/4 cup water. Close and cook in medium flame for 4 minutes.
Open, add cow peas, and cook open in high flame for 2 minutes, until it gets dry.
Add coconut, Coriander leaves, mix well and switch off.
Tasty, colorful, healthy Poriyal is ready for your kid’s lunch box.
