Kodo Millet in Tamil known as Varagu Arisi, is a healthy rice variety. It has less carbohydrate and more fiber, it also has calcium. It is very good choice for dieting people and diebetic people. Watch how to make Ven Pongal using this Varagu Arisi.
Varagu Arisi – 100 Gm (1 cup)
Moong dhal – 1/2 cup
Water – 4 cups
Milk – 1/2 cup
Use the same cup for all measures.
Ginger, pepper, jeera, curry leaves, cashews, oil, ghee, salt.
Dry roast moong dhal, wash rice and dhal and soak together for 20 minutes.
In 4 cups of boiling water add soaked ingredients and salt, cook for 4 whistles.
Mash it when it is hot. Add hot milk and mix. Keep in low flame. In 3 tsp of oil fry cashew, coursly crushed pepper, jeera, ginger, curry leaves and add it to the pongal.
Cook in low flame for 2 minutes, add a tsp of ghee and switch off.
This Pongal does not need more oil and ghee.
Healthy breakfast is ready. Enjoy this with coconut chutney, tiffen Sambar.
